We got there early - thanks to comments in the TG newsletter (one of the many very good things about TG is how honest they are about any flaws in a night) we were warned about the new cloak room problem. Getting there early solves that. Lucky - I don't think it's quite sorted yet. For some bizarre reason the new management sees fit to make you stand in one queue to drop your bags, and a different queue for coats. There are no signs to indicate this. Silly.
But the night got going early anyway - people were dancing right from 11:00 - often it takes till 12:30. The crowd was eager, happy, friendly, and up for it. Somehow the light hearted decor made it all a bit less serious than normal - which suits us well. The opening Drum n Bass set was very danceable.
The dungeon, which has some new kit, was put to use right away too. Nice swing!
The first show was the Boudoir fashion show hosted by a cool crooner who did a number - very very good - the crowd just loved this. And if my theory that the show sets the tone for the eclectic room is correct it was born out here - I've never seen the eclectic room so buzzing and happy - heaps of people dancing to the strangest songs - great stuff. And putting the bed on the stage to some whipping good use.
That was my only regret - I think I should have spent more time in there. It can be a bit hit and miss that room - tonight was pure hit. But I couldn't spend time in there because 'Ting' just did the most awesome set in the main dance floor- pure dancing joy - she is my favourite guest DJ at TG. And Allen TG just kept it right up when he took over.
As is our wont we got up to some play as well. I don't know why, but we always end up playing more on the dance floor than in the dungeon. Perhaps there is too much performance pressure in the dungeon - the dance floor is more spontaneous, more naughty. And for future reference, the banister posts above the raised apron of the dance floor make a very good attachment point for any leash that may be attached to any genital piercings.
This was pretty much a perfect fetish party night for us- and a great way to say goodbye to UK fetish clubbing. We're moving to Canada soon. I'll miss nothing about London at all - except this club - at which I've had some of the best times of my life.
Cheers, Michael
