Altered Images are a mail order company for transvestite clothing and accessories. I would recommend that anyone thinking of dealing with them is extremely cautious, as my experience of dealing with them (detailed below) has been unsatisfactory in the extreme.
Of the 8 items I ordered (in two seperate orders) I had problems with 5 of them. The first two garments that arrived were completely the wrong size (seeming more like a 16 than a 10!). When I sent them back, the replacements arrived promptly, but were of very poor quality - my thought at the time was they could of been knocked up in a 6th form needlework class.
The third item, a corset, was out of stock for so long that I chose a wig that was in stock instead and changed my order to that. The wig turned up fairly quickly and I'm quite happy with it.
The next three items were a magazine, a filled bra and a skirt. These all arrived in a reasonable time and were in good order.
The last two items (a lace body and another magazine) never arrived. While I was discussing (by post) with Altered Images the items I had to return due to being the wrong size, they kept telling me that the magazine was out of stock, or that due to delays they were expecting the next edition in soon and would despatch that instead. This went on for at least three months, before all communications from the company suddenly stopped.
My repeated attempts to contact the company by phone were completely ignored (I left several messages on their answerphone). It should be noted at this stage that the only ways to contact Altered Images are by mail to a PO Box or by phone to an answerphone. There is no avenue of personal contact available to a customer, whether they are happy with their order or not.
After a few months of ignored messages, I wrote to Altered Images asking why my messages weren't being returned, pointing out to them that I was going to be reviewing their services shortly for a website and offering them the chance to sort everything out before I wrote the review.
Their reply was that if I 'slandered' them on a website they would take me to court, and they claimed that they had already sent all my goods to me and as far as they were concerned the matter was closed.
Needless to say, I still haven't received my goods and I'm still writing this review, which I don't think classes as slander, as it is a perfectly accurate description of the interactions between me and this company.
Also needless to say I won't be sending any more money to these people, as they have already had about £300, for which I have a wig, a bra, a magazine, a skirt and a couple of dresses I don't wear due to their poor quality. Not the best bargain I've ever got.
