Players Clubs - what do you want?Request

A new club could be opening in the London area soon, aimed at players rather than dancers or swingers. We'd like your feedback on what sort of atmosphere and policies you would like that club to have.

Do you think that London lacks the sort of club that is for the players amongst us?
How would you feel about a club aimed at players?
What level of sexual activity would you be happy with, from people who wank in/near your play space right through to open sex/swinging?
How do you feel about single males? Whether they be Dom or sub? How about single females?
What level of seclusion would you like for your play space?
How do you feel about being viewed? How close would you feel comfortable with?
Should there be strict dress codes? Would you feel comfortable with smart casual wear? What do you consider smart casual?
How would you feel about a secure chill out area?
Would you be happy with a relaxed atmosphere with only back ground music?

We are proposing a play only venue, where we would like to offer a coffee type bar atmosphere, serving alcohol through to tea coffee and food. An area to socialise, and to meet people. The club will have an air of style and of grace, but remain aimed at the players.

We are also considering the following for those that want to swing or go 'on the pull' - that there is a specific area to do this, with distinct and clear demarcation lines.

All views will be greatly appreciated and respected and taken on board, at the end of the day we'd like to offer YOU the club that YOU want.

This would be good...#1

...In several NY and San Francisco clubs they have a colour badge policy which, sadly, no one has ever tried out here in the UK.

Basically, wearing a badge of a particular club denotes what you are into - Top, bottom, voyeur, opposite sex only, mixed sex, looking for a slave, looking for a Master/Mistress, etc.

In the US clubs the 'badges' usually are nothing more than a coloured piece of ribbon worn around the wrist or elsewhere on the body... Gee, it could be as cheap as those coloured circular price labels that you can pick up a 100 for for a few quid in any stationers... but, well, it actually saves alot of time and hassle, allows others to see what people are into/after and can lead to some quite fulfilling times!

The club you want?#2

Thnak You anonymous...I have also clubbed in the states and was aware of this protocol. it seems to be an expansion of the hanky code in a way.. i dont know if it would take off here, but is a most welcome and valid point. It may well be worth trying it out and seeing what happens. The only concern I have is that most of us in the scene hate to be classified and 'pigeon-holed', but is a suggestion worthy of merit... thanks again.

The Club you want?#3

Having played at Paddles in NYC a year or so ago - the dress of most males was black t-shirt and jeans and few females wore anything resembling fetish gear.
An enjoyable time was had by all.
There were quite a few, appreciative, watchers to the playing and we were given plenty of space to play - no wankers - we actually made a lot of friends there (maybe it was the 'British' accent :))
I see no reason to get all dressed up to play.

Paddles and Play Club feedback#5

Hrrm
I played at Paddles earlier this year too - it's a great venue in terms of facilities, but as a woman I was a bit perturbed that all the blokes there seemed to be convinced I was a pro Domme (and kept acting amazed that my PARTNER was allowed to come on holiday with me!)...
As to dressing up - I actually LIKE to dress up a bit - that's half the fun of going to an event (I can and do play in jeans and t shirts at home)
There's a difference between a dress code that encourages people to dress up and one that intimidates people.

Regarding sex .... call me a buttoned up Northerner, but I prefer to leave genital activity until I get home - both the doing and the viewing .... It's not a HARD limit, but I definitely prefer the focus to be on bashing, zapping and restraining rather than vibrating, tugging or inserting (if you see what I mean) Lash is still MY favourite club for getting the balance right.

Regarding play space....
personally I kinda like it to be relatively visible as public play is for me and opportunity to show off a bit ...
HOWEVER - I'd also like equipment to be roped off from viewers so they can see but not get in the way of players ...
my PERFECT scenario would be a large dungeon with tables separate from equipment - PLUS a seperate room for sexual activity (group) plus a few smaller individual / private play rooms .... I don't ask for much eh?
As an example, Intimate Affair in Brum has all the above apart from lack of social space in the main dungeon.

Finally - labels ... as Exx says - a lot of people would not WANT to pigeon hole themselves.... and besides, what is wrong with asking.... are we really so shallow that we would only talk to someone we wanted to play with?
don't answer that folks

As a complete novice to the play scene and never having ventured to the states other than for shopping... and no, not that kind either....i have never heard of this labelling system, whilst i can see how some might find it beneficial, however as a newbie i think i would find it quite intimidating, also me being a girlie girl love to chat so think that we would miss out on some wonderful conversations with people opening up and letting others in.... called making friends...

Re: ...#6

For me, the elements that go towards making a good venue and atmosphere are these...

The music shouldn't be too loud. I like a social environment where I don't have to shout to be heard, and then still have to repeat every third sentence.

A lot of clubs are far too hot. Whether it's through poor design, or intentional to make the customers drink more, they get so hot you become exhausted and uncomfortable. Keep the place at a comfortable temperature ... warm enough that people will happily divest themselves, but not so hot that you sweat at the least exertion.

Dress code... Tricky, and I'm not sure of the answer. The clubs I've been to have all had a dress code of varying severity. I'd like a relaxed dress code, but whether that extends to 'smart casual' I don't know. I'm trying to imagine it but I think I'd like to keep a dress code - just not excessively strict.

If people want to voluntarily adopt the hanky code, or an equivalent, good for them. But I wouldn't want it made mandatory. I don't like the idea of having to categorise people.

The idea of the specific are for 'swinging/on the pull' is a good one, and I hope it would work. It's certainly worth a try...

Where space allows, I like to see a variety of rooms/areas, of various openness. I normally like to play in public, but not everyone does, and maybe one day I'd want more privacy. So a variety of open areas, partially screened rooms and secluded or darkrooms would be my ideal layout.

As for the activities encouraged/permitted, I take a very unrestricted view - virtually anything goes. The things that I'd suggest should be limited would be - anything illegal, obviously, and also anything that could pose a hazard. Things I'd consider hazards would be anything with a danger of contamination - so no watersports or blood. Part of this may be my own preferences coming through, but still I think it's sensible...

Single males... I wish there was a better balance at clubs. Some are better balanced than others it seems, but I have no idea why that is. So far, I've never gone to a club on my own, but either with a lady or with friends. However, I would have an issue with not having the option of going along on my own if I wished to. Perhaps the entry cost should encourage couples/groups rather than singles, but not by making the single entry fee extortionate. Note I said singles, rather than single males. (Yes, I know women arriving on their own is unusual anyway, but it's the principle.)

That's my brainstorming for the moment. No doubt I'll think of more later...
