Absolution, Feb 23rdReview: Event

Another fun filled night was held at Absolution on Friday Night. This new venue for the Absolution crew is now starting to become more established, with a more organised and dedicated following.

Sadly though this month's event was not as well attended as the previous few months, and the reduced number of punters at first was quite disappointing. (perhaps this was down to a lack of cash or another event) But soon the established crowd were more than stirred up by the well mixed Trance and House tracks that filled the stage and dance floor.

It was good not to see the jeans and t-shirts brigade that had invaded the last event (perhaps the management have finally started to tighten up on the dress code - otherwise why do we bother!?) and I was encouraged by a small number of new people that had come along to explore their "other side" for the first time.

Having said that, I like others were disappointed to find that both the dungeon and playroom were not used to their best advantage. At times the rooms were completely empty. What a shame and a waste of all the hard work and equipment that has gone into making these rooms fun and "interesting" places to play and lurk! The reason for this could well be down to the reduced numbers at this event, but I think the more likely cause was due to fetish apathy and a lack of "experienced" and willing helpers.

If we are not careful, wonderful, promising monthly events "in the suburbs" like Absolution will become just an excuse for dressing up and playing with a pole on the dance floor. Nothing wrong with that, but for the fetish scene to strive forward and make it's mark (excuse the pun) it needs clubs that serve the needs of all "pure" and aspiring fetish people alike (in all their diverse forms), not just the vanilla show-offs and voyeurs amongst us.

Absolution could and hopefully will have a great future, but it is up to all of us to come along, make the effort and help support and encourage it.

Lets also bear in mind the importance of welcoming new faces in the crowd. It's not always easy for 'newbies' coming into the scene. So let's make it a friendly, sexy and happy experience for all.

Dress Code#1

Really glad to hear the dress code was more successfully enforced this time - the promoters assured me this would be the case, and it's great to hear it worked out that way in practice.

I'll do my best to make it to the next one now this problem has been solved.

Interesting to see that numbers were down - I wonder if this had anything to do with people being put off, as I was, by the lager-louts at the last one? If so, then hopefully the people who steered clear this time will hear the good news and come back to the fold...

Absolution - onward and upward (oo-er!)

Denny

Absolution - keeping it pure#3

Hi WingedAngel ... I have to say that I disagree with your post re Absolution. It is intended to be a fetish club which DOES include vanilla shows offs and voyeurs - thats what its' for. If the BDSM community try to stamp that out by "keeping it pure" then where are the people with an interest only in dressing up going to go?
