Absolution Uniform PartyReview: Event

I went to Absolution's June event and had a good time, but problems getting on their mailing list meant that I missed their July / August efforts... my luck was better for September, and I managed to pick up a flyer with details of the uniform theme night on the 1st.

Having not found a mask for the masked ball last time, I thought I should make more effort this time, so I aquired a uniform that appealed to my warped little mind - a priest's outfit... I also got my girlfriend a nun's outfit so we could go as a matching pair of weirdos :)

The entry price was the same as the last one I went to - £6 if you were following the theme, £7.50 if you didn't. Drinks are quite expensive, particularly soft drinks (250ml bottle of water = £1.05), so a night out can be quite pricey if you get thirsty like I did!

The problems with the sound system noted in my last review had been fixed this time, and the speakers sounded much happier, which helped the tunes considerably. The DJ was also different, a guest from another local club (Northampton based I believe) and he was good, although perhaps his taste in music wasn't quite as 100% as the DJ at the last event... but it was still very good.

Being with my girlfriend, I felt able to go into the playroom this time (in fact we were in there a while :) ), so I can report that the facilities provided consisted of a bed with straps fitted at all corners, plus a mattress on the floor for 'overspill' I guess... worked for me anyway! The window was covered over with a Union Jack, which made me think of the phrase "Lay back and think of England" ! Just as we were leaving, one person came in to watch us, and then another couple came in to take over the bed when we'd done with it, so there was a fairly constant stream of people interested in the playroom while I was watching this time...

The dungeon room seemed quite busy all through the night, and I noticed one girl leaving at the end of the night trying to soothe her obviously sore rear while smiling broadly, so a good time was obviously had by at least one person!

At the end of my last review, I said that I felt this event would improve as it went on, and this time it certainly lived up to that hope... now if I could only sort out my mailing list subscription to make sure I don't miss the next one!

Prices#1

I generally had a dam good time at the night, although I did feel that it was fairly expensive. The night opened at 9:00pm and closed at 1:00am and cost me £7.50 entry fee, plus the standard high prices of Milton Keynes for drinks. For that sort of entry price I had been expecting to be staying till at least 2:00am and was rather disappointed at having to leave so early.

It's also worth noting that this is more of a fancy dress party rather than a place for picking up. Currently the absolution night is being staged in an appropriately sized venue, which helps with the ambiance of the night.
