Entrance Fee to Absolutely Alternative - Dunstable | Review: Event |
---|
By WingAngel on Wed 17 Apr 2002 at 19:49 | Having gone to numerous events at Absolution and having supported all Absolutely Alternative Events at Dunstable since it opened I was somewhat shocked to hear how much extra it was going to cost for a night out with friends.
From the original entrance fee of £10, the cost of a single male entrance fee has gone up to a whacking £25!
I hardly think that this is fair to those single males amongst us that wish to share a fun night out with our friends, and those who share our interests. Many of whome are attached and pay a lot less.
I can understand some of the reasons for this price hike, esp. on swinging nights, but nights devoted to Fetish I believe should be treated differently as in other such clubs.
Having heard this news I was most disappointed and has had the effect of discouraging other single males who happen to be fetish orientated and who are discriminated against because of their single status.
I have enjoyed my previous visits to this club, but with this new policy in place I doubt that I or friends will return.
It hardly seems fair to all!
Please change this policy. |

By Denny on Sat 20 Apr 2002 at 02:37 | If enough people decide the policy is unacceptable and simply don't go, it won't be in the interests of the promoter or the venue to keep the prices as they are.
I mentioned the subject in an email to the promoters a fortnight or more ago, and they said that the prices are entirely out of their hands, being set by the venue... I don't know if that's true or not, but the prices are exactly the same as the fetish event promoted by the venue itself (which runs on the month in-between the Ab.Alt. events) so it does seem likely.
I didn't go, largely because all three of my usual clubbing friends decided not to go, which was entirely because they're all single males and they were very definitely not willing to pay that entry fee.
Incidentally, after a really crap night last night, I've just joined the ranks of single males myself... and I can assure you I won't be paying £25 to get into an event unless (a) it's a bloody good event and (b) everyone else there is paying much the same...
Regards,
Denny
