Site won't work with Netscape, flaky under Mozilla#1

If you're running anything except IE, your best bet is to jump directly to this folder which has the portfolio of images in it...

All fixed now#6

Well done to the site admin at rootah.com, who has made some changes. The site now states that it has been tested in NS4 and Opera 6, as well as IE4 and above. I've just looked at it using both Nerdscape 4.77 and Mozilla 0.98 and it worked fine.

Denny

Browser specificity needs fixed.#2

Telling your users they are using the wrong browser is extremely rude. Design your site to be any browser friendly.

Tim Berners-Lee#3

For those who don't know, Tim Berners-Lee is the (English) guy who invented the web - so he's entitled to an opinion on the subject! :)

HTML stuff#4

Incidentally, ukfetish.info works in all browsers, although the rendering is pretty weird in Netscape 4.x due to the fact that it doesn't understand stylesheets very well. There's a whole load of links to stuff to do with Internet standards and accessibility on the 'About this site' page.

If any of the people reading are still using Netscape 4.x out of choice, know HTML, and would like to contribute to an open source project, you could rewrite our HTML templates to be NS4 friendly. I've written the code that can switch to using different templates when someone with NS4 accesses the site, but I haven't had time to write the HTML itself. Get in touch if you're interested!

Netscape 4#5

Okay, once I posted that comment I couldn't resist having a quick look at how much needed to be done exactly to make the templates render a bit better in NS4.x - so, now we've got a full set of HTML 4.01 Loose templates which we switch to when Netscape 4 users come to visit.

They're not perfect, so if anyone wants to tweak at them to make it look more like the standard output, you're still welcome to get in touch... but at least now people with Netscape 4 should be getting something which is a bit more like I meant the site to be laid out!

Another fun and exciting Saturday night... gotta love this rock n roll lifestyle I lead ;)

Denny
